Safety Tips
Create a Safety Password
Have a safety password that only you and your parents know. When someone else wants to give you a ride and walk you from school it is safe to ask them for your password. If they don't know go straight to the principal's office and tell the principal, or a teacher. Call your parents to make sure they have arranged for someone else to pick you up.
Make a Fire Escape Plan
Make sure you and your parents have a fire escape plan so you know what to do if there is a fire. Your local fire department can offer advice if you are unsure on how to do this. Once you have a plan set times throughout the year to practice what to do.
Get a Safety Whistle
Have access to safety tools like a whistle that you can keep on your coat or in your pocket. Only blow that whistle when you are in danger, or if there is an emergency. Keep blowing that whistle until help comes!
Wear a helmet.
Wear a helmet when riding a bike, skate boarding, ice skating, or roller blading. Wearing a helmet can prevent serious injury. We can't just order a new head, so we have to protect the one we have.
Don't Pick it Up!
Don't pick up anything that you find outside on the ground. Some things that we find could carry diseases and make us very sick. Tell your parents, or a teacher where to find what you have found.
